Surfside is designed by renowned Minneapolis architect Lloyd Jafvert and he has incorporated a variety of elements into the design of Surfside to create an atmosphere like no other, including dramatic angles, vast expanses of glass, captivating knotty-pine vaulted ceilings, and exposed post and beam construction. The interior finishings feature high quality materials such as granite counter and vanity tops, unique Red Birch custom cabinetry, two custom ledgerock fireplaces, and a custom glass and slate tile shower. At Surfside we employ only the finest quality materials and the finest quality brands such as Andersen Windows®, James Hardie® cement board siding, Hunter Douglas® window treatments, and Whirlpool® stainless steel appliances. The interiors are decorated with designer selected furnishings. Every detail has been meticulously selected and coordinated to create a uniquely coastal contemporary aesthetic.

In addition to the visible quality elements discussed above, there are some elements that are just as important, yet they’re not as apparent to the eye. For one, we have installed a geo-thermal system in our state-of-the-art pool, spa, café, and meeting facility. Using heat from the earth, this system heats the pool, hot tub, the building interior, and domestic hot water. It will also dehumidify the pool area and provide air conditioning during the warmer months. At current energy prices, this system is estimated to save each quarter share owner $25 per month. The savings will be even greater if energy prices continue to rise. Secondly, our wastewater treatment system is over a decade ahead of the current industry standard. The system features a re-circulating sand filter, or “polishing filter,” that emits nearly pure water to the mound system. We weren’t required to install a system of this quality, but we did it to save the owners association the future expense of upgrading the system. More importantly, we wanted to do our part in helping to keep Lake Superior the cleanest fresh water lake in the world.
