Your family will thank you...

It appears as though the dropping gas prices have helped to encourage many people to visit Surfside! Our weekend occupancy has been at or near 100% for weeks now, so word is getting out on the latest and greatest resort property on the North Shore! I also want to extend a special "thank you" to everyone that joined us last Saturday evening for wine and cheese and to learn more about ownership possibilities at Surfside. The response for these events has again been overwhelming! Guests enjoyed a delicious sampling of assorted cheeses, salmon, fruit and spreads catered from the Coho Cafe as well as a nice selection of red and white wines. Guests were also able to get a first-hand look at our recently opened pool and recreation facilities!

Economic Perspective...

It's no secret that the economy is on unstable ground right now. But with the Dow tumbling, there's a silver lining in every cloud. Dennis Rysdahl is the founder and general manager of Bluefin Bay and Dennis has owned and managed the Bluefin property since it's inception in 1983. There's no substitute for the 25 years of professional management experience that Dennis brings to Surfside, which owners and guests will benefit greatly from. My father (Chuck) and Dennis are partners in Surfside. Chuck began exclusively developing recreational real estate in 1976. He tells me that he had his best years when the market dropped 20% in 1987 (and the years following) and in the four years following 9/11. In both instances, recreational real estate became a rock solid appreciating asset. People then, as they are now, have a "nesting" instinct and are likely to keep their investments close to home. Recreational real estate is not likely to have either the upside or downside volatility that the stock market experiences. Plus, it's a great place to build memories. Many of my fondest memories growing up were created at Bluefin Bay. Also, an important detail to keep in mind is that over 90% of land in Cook County is not available for private ownership and an even smaller percentage is located on Lake Superior. Ownership of recreational property on Lake Superior in Cook County is great way to build long-term equity in a property that you're vacationing at on a regular basis anyway. When you own at Surfside, you own a tangible asset in an area on the North Shore know as the "Gold Coast" that you, your family and friends will be able to enjoy for many years to come.
