New snow...

New snow, new foundations, and new guest service building walls: Surfside is coming together nicely

Six inches of new snow this week has Surfside looking very different! While it is cold for the workmen who will work right through winter, it is very white and pretty.

We poured foundation walls on our next three-unit building today, units 15-17. The utility building construction is going full blast, with windows, siding and trim going on this week.

The guest services building framing is also underway. This is a very complicated building with lots of exposed beams and level changes, so slow to build but it will be a very architecturally interesting building when completed. The roof rafters should go on next week and we’re hoping to have guest services open by the end of January 2008. Yes, we intend to start renting the first nine completed units as early as January.

Completion of interiors of the first nine Surfside units along the waterfront continues as well. Finish carpentry is done in seven of the nine; carpet is underway in the fourth and fifth of nine; and granite countertops are being placed in the last three of the nine units next week.

We were pleased to have so many people stop by to see our progress at last week's open houses. If you would like to set up an appointment, please call us at 1-877-361-SURF (7873).

November storms

It was very dark outside and the waves were violently pounding the ledgerock shoreline two weeks ago. This was my first experience visiting the Surfside townhomes after dark and I was reminded how close they are to the lake. I felt like I could almost feel the vibration of the waves in my legs with every crash against the shoreline. Wow! What an introduction. I would love to see surf like that again this weekend, while hosting open houses at Surfside.

We have been holding open houses for a few weeks now and enjoy welcoming guests to our luxurious model townhomes. The finishing touches are being attended to and we hope to make the first townhomes available for rental in about six weeks.

Most guests who attend the open houses love the feel of both the Watertone and Earthtone interior design packages. Initially, when we had only design boards to show, some were skeptical about the Earthtone package, but now that a unit is furnished, people absolutely love it! Personally, I like the Earthtone package best because it has a bit warmer feel utilizing more golds and warm colors.

I would like to invite everyone to our exclusive open houses this weekend. Open houses will be held on the following dates and times:

Friday, November 23rd: 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Saturday, November 24th: 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The road and parking areas have been graded, so it should be a smooth ride to the model units. I look forward to seeing you there!

Furnished Models Open

The interiors are here and they are gorgeous!

This past week we furnished two model units at Surfside on Lake Superior. The interior finishings and upscale designer-selected furnishings have been coordinated to create a unique coastal contemporary aesthetic, unlike anything else on the North Shore.

Two interior design packages are offered -- Watertone and Earthtone. The Watertone package consists of light maple furniture with clean and simple lines. The color palette includes watery aqua blues merged with calm natural fibers and hues. The corner custom slate fireplace in the great room is the perfect accent to the calming and soothing hues in the furnishings throughout the condo.

While the Watertone package takes its cue from the lake, the Earthtone package gets inspiration from the surrounding forest and ledgerock shoreline. Walnut furniture accented with caramel leather dining room chairs and cinnamon colored soft chairs and accent pillows, provides the perfect contrast to the light hardwood floors. A soft sage green leather sofa and loveseat are the stars of this great room.
